Our History

Founded in 2008 by Steve Wilde, American Amplifier Technologies (AAT) began alongside SWE Services, a closely aligned organization providing premier broadcast and engineering services to customers worldwide.

In 2019, AAT expanded its capabilities through the acquisition of Mauna Towers, which operates broadcast tower facilities across Hawaii and Arizona. This strategic move allowed AAT to provide essential tower space, infrastructure management, and site services for broadcasters and communication providers.

In 2023, AAT further strengthened its market presence by acquiring Shively Labs, a name synonymous with high-performance FM antennas and filters designed for some of the world’s most demanding environments, including Mount Washington, NH. Today, Shively products continue to serve customers in over 100 countries from AAT’s expanded engineering and manufacturing facility in North Highlands, California.

That same year, AAT established a strategic alliance with System Engineering Solutions (SyES), combining AAT’s manufacturing expertise with SyES’s advanced RF transmission technology. Together, they deliver innovative, turnkey TV and FM transmission solutions tailored to modern broadcast operations.

Most recently, in September 2025, AAT broadened its RF portfolio with the acquisition of Kathrein Broadcast USA (Kathrein-Scala). The integration of these respected  product lines unites decades of engineering excellence under AAT’s U.S.-based design, testing, and manufacturing operations—furthering our mission to provide complete, end-to-end RF system solutions for broadcasters worldwide.
